Vulcans become irrational- the fix is melding

OK, I can not remember this fic's name or location to save my life so some kind soul take pity, please.  What I remember for certain:

1. Vulcans start acting irrational and violent. 
2. It eventually effects Spock and they have to lock him up. 
3.  Spock tries to intiate mental contact with Kirk against his wishes. 
4.  While locked up Spock pretends to be upset thus tricking Kirk into the holding area. 
5.  Spock initiates a meld and Kirk tries to calm Spock by communicating that not just the Vulcan's who suffer but the whole federation from the loss of Vulcan. 
6.  It either stated or implied that what 'cures' Spock is his and Kirk's compatability. 
7. This a reboot.
8.  It (irrationality) had not affected Spock Prime and it was initially attributed to him being 1/2 human so they thought it wouldn't effect Spock.

Thank you in advance- my usual way of finding semi-unique keywords wouldn't work for this fic (ie. meld I mean what fic doesn't have that when it's K/S?)
