[Found fics] Pre-First Contact by Vulcan (sorta)

Back again! I seriously need to tag my fics better (by which I mean I need to actually tag my fics) :T Quite sure I read this one on AO3.

Fic (1): I can't remember very much unfortunately. It's hard to separate things out from the other First Contact fics in my head. In this fic, Spock's family's ship crashed(?) on Earth many years ago I think. Earth has not created warp tech yet. I can't remember the circumstances by which Jim and Spock meet, but Jim didn't find out Spock was an alien quite some time later. Jim's father was a pilot and died in some space mission/program accident, again I think. And Jim tails Spock to his workplace one day where Spock is researching...something. Spock ends up shot somewhere along the lines and (possibly Jim's room mate) Bones is called on to help.

Fic (2): Genius Jim along with genius Scotty, Pavel (the usual gang) built the first warp-drive and installed it on a ship. Said ship got out to space where it proceeded to work without going up in flames. Once they did, Vulcan was able to communicate with them, I think they were sent to observe this whole process and make contact if Earth indeed reached warp capability.

The first is Kirk/Spock, the second...I'm not too sure if there was any pairing at all.

Brilliant! *glomps you* Yes, it was this fic. Thank you for saving me hours of fruitless searching ;u; And ha, I thought I misremembered the bartender bit, but turns out I didn't. Just got mixed up with Papers in the Roadside.

Heh: Papers in the Roadside was the first one I thought of, too.

I did a search on AO3 for kirk/spock, Alternate Universe, Explicit (b/c I remember the sex!) and ordered it by kudos. It was on the first page! (I totally remembered the bartending bit, too. And the end, where they find the facility in Virginia or wherever.)

"Explicit (b/c I remember the sex!)" I outright laughed at this xD Ahaha, in the future posts I make on this comm (and sadly, I'm positive there will be future posts), I'll be sure to add 'And there was definitely sex! Descriptive sex!' as a qualifier |D

Now that's what I call intelligent searching, totally unlike my brute force attack on my fic collection @n@ Your memory is excellent. I did recall and nearly added 'there was some conspiracy over George Kirk's death and a secret base involved' into my post but it was too vague XD
