Specific Spock-centric fic, think it ends as S/K

I can't remember a lot of details but I remember that it had insecure Spock and at one point Bones ordered Spock to eat in the mess hall instead of in his room (maybe Spock had an eating disorder? I'm not sure) but Spock had stopped sitting with the crew and was isolating himself. There were scenes of Jim and Spock at meals together where Jim would talk and Spock wouldn't say anything.

There was one specific scene where Spock was at a table by himself in the crowded mess hall and a bunch of young crew members all sat next to him and were being really loud and one was eating a rare steak? I think Jim came and made them all move but I'm not sure.

I just remember a very lonely Spock, and a Jim that misunderstood a lot of Spock's actions and a very frustrated Bones.

Oh man, I've read this one before, I think. I'm almost positive it was on KSarchive, so I'll look through my read history. Do you remember any other details? I'm so sure I've read it, but I can't remember where or what it was called. I'll do my best to help you find it!

I don't think I remember anything else important. Just little things like Mccoy giving Spock protein bars? I thought I read it on AO3, so I'm going to check my history there, but it definitely could've been KSarchive. I'm also almost positive I found it through a rec here, but I've been through most of the h/c tag and I can't find it.

I'm pretty sure it's How We Operate by missBAMF since it has the specific steak scene that you're thinking of. It also makes sense with the KSArchive and AO3 confusion as it used to be on AO3 but some people got it taken down. Because some people (well call them jealous haters) kept reporting the story and author for abuse, and ao3, rather than investigate it just said deleted the story because "obviously it must true since more than one person is reporting."

I'm not sure she writes anymore though. That author received a lot of negative attention the moment she started posting it seems. I think she's left the fandom or stopped writing altogether, but I know from a friend that if you email her, she'll send you a copy of the original story (the one before the rewrite) if that's something you're interested in. ive got that email written down somewhere if you're interested.
