AU of reboot / pre-film

Okay, I KNOW I must have this saved in my favorites somewhere, but I have over a 100 fics saved in a file that has nothing but the address.

So, does anybody know of a AU fic where Kirk is the one of the xeno-linguistics students that Spock has an affair with (instead of Uhura)? It starts with Bones telling Kirk to get some friends and he chooses a group of jerks, who then try to assualt Spock (which Kirk interferes), and then it progresses from there.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!

Gah, I thought I'd bookmarked this one but it turns out I didn't. I'm not sure if it's slash or gen, but in it Bones and Jim go camping and Bones gets sick with what looks like flu to start with but turns out to be meningitis. Jim has to look after him at first and then get him to hospital when it turns out to be deadly.

I think it was on the kink meme, but I'm not 100% on that.
