Spock as shady (criminal?) recruiter who snaps up Kirk & McCoy

Okay within the last month or two I read the beginning of a really interesting WIP in which Spock, no longer working for Starfleet, was Spock-blocking Pike's recruiting attempts.

He recruited Kirk out from under Pike's nose by pointing out the way in which his little speech was emotionally manipulating Jim and promised McCoy his daughter. What he was recruiting them for I am unclear on, and I don't think was fully explained yet. Does anyone know this fic?
