Any stories about permanent injuries?

My google-fu has failed me for the last time. Again.

I'm trying to find any stories where a main character is permanently injured - not blind/deaf but like losing a limb - and the fallout after. Preferences are for K/S, but I'm happy with gen & most other pairings or characters (except S/U).

AND IT'S MAKING ME CRAZY.

I've somehow misplaced it because it's not in my bookmarks anymore :/ So, it's a K/S fic, and I have a hunch it wasn't just a oneshot, but a longer piece. There was this one scene where Spock, Jim and some other people are on surface of a planet (Vulcan?) and Jim pisses the bad guy off on purpose, because he knows the guy has his phaser and it's on stun, not kill. When he comes to and some other shit goes down Spock bitches at him because a close range shot to the head (the bad guy had been holding the phaser to Jim's temple when he fired) even if on stun, could kill. I remember vaguely that there was somekind of trouble in the Vulcan colony (some stuff or grain had gone missing?) and they suspected that someone, a Vulcan, was behind it and in the end it was true.

that's all I can remember. Hope somebody can help me to locate this fic I've love to read it again : )
