I just got done reading Much Abo About Something by CMM and I'm in the mood for the opposite pairing now.  Something where Kirk wants Spock but Spock for whatever reason doesn't want Kirk.  Eventually Kirk ends up with McCoy and Spock realizes what he has lost.

Hi! I'm looking for a story which, I think, started out with Spock and Jim meeting with kids. A scene from it that I remember most vividly involves Jim returning from Tarsus, upon which Spock (without really consulting anyone about it) bonds with him, I think on the porch of the Kirk house in Iowa. Amanda and Winona discuss how to deal with this, and I forget the rest. Any help locating this would be much appreciated!
