 A friend and I were talking about this image of Shatner:



And one of the comments on tumblr said: " In my mind, this is the look on his face when Spock told him he was going to pursue Kohlinarh. "

So, my friend said, "This sounds like something that a fic could/would be written about. Something like he's thinking Now, he can never love me back Like it would be an unrequited love fic."

So I was wondering, is there any fic with that kinda premise?

Oh god yes, so much delicious angst written for that post-5 year mission stuff since the 70s! (I have a handful of old zines all about it right now.) So, because it's a TOS topic, there's more TOS fic about it, but actually there's many reboot stories that deal with Spock's decision to pursue or not pursue kolinahr as well. Unfortunately, it's not always in the summary, so it's really hard to remember the stories where it's featured. But good places to start hunting include the post-five year mission tag (http://www.delicious.com/kirkspock/trope%3Aendofmission) in the k/s delicious bookmarks and searching for "kolinahr" at the K/S Archive (http://ksarchive.com/search.php).

One great long reboot series about this that does come right to mind is The Ending Has Not Yet Been Written (http://ksarchive.com/viewseries.php?seriesid=13) by corpus_invictus.
