 Anybody remember a story that featured the song "The Sea King" by Wolfstone heavily? Uhura sang it at Kirk's funeral in this fic, and the lyrics were so awesome that I had to go look up the band. Now it's a favorite of mine, but I can't find the story again. I think it was archived on a different Star Trek site, not LiveJournal. The story could have been Spock/Kirk, but to be honest I have no idea. Spock was at the funeral, and he thought it odd but fitting that the song was so upbeat and intense instead of being traditionally funerial. Sound familiar?

Oh yes, this is the epic classic by Killashandra, Bitter Glass (http://ksarchive.com/viewstory.php?sid=18&warning=2). Honestly, one of the best fanfics I've ever read at all <3
