I really loved this fic I found a while back, and I have a quote I saved from it, but I lost the link.

I think they are on leave and Kirk takes McCoy to this cabin from his childhood. They go out on a lake at night and this happens:

He glances over and Jim is smiling, maybe a bit hesitantly. “Y’know how people say that everyone’s just looking for love? That’s all they want in life?” Jim pauses and Bones realizes he’s waiting for an answer, and gives a nod. “I think that’s a load of shit. All anybody’s really looking for is someone to share with. Someone to show things to. Somebody willing to go to your favorite coffee shop with, or sample different flavors of ice cream with, or…or stare up at the stars without saying anything. That’s what people are looking for. Just someone who’s willing to be there and see what they see. Can just be a friend. Relationships, love—those are just some fortunate side affects.”

I know that isnt a lot to go on but I can't remeber much else except this conversation, because it was so great. I just would really like to find this fic, it's lovely.
