Kirk turned into a Vulcan?

I'm not sure if I'm mashing two fics together in my brain or not, but, here goes...

I remember that the fic was Kirk/Spock and the crew visited this planet where the priestess/priest/VIP gave Jim the option of going through something traumatic for Spock without telling Jim what that traumatic thing would be. This is, of course, pon farr. I'm not sure if Jim was turned into a Vulcan or he just went through pon farr for Spock in his human body. I'm also pretty sure that I do remember a scene where Jim goes back to the planet to talk to the people and he chose to still go through this for Spock.

Also, what I'm pretty sure what I'm thinking of is not We'll Walk in Ecstasy by eagle_of_idiocy.

Can anyone help? (I make a mean set of virtual cookies!)

You mean this story: Through Blind Men's Eyes (http://ladyblahblah.livejournal.com/33581.html) by ladyblahblah. Jim's worst fear is Spock's death, Spock's worst fear is Pon Farr. And since Spock is a noble idiot who'd let himself die in Pon Farr, the aliens' gift comes in handy and Jim takes on that burden. I won't say how as to not spoil it for you. :)
