Hi -- I know this will sound vague, but I found (and lost) a fic a few weeks ago.
I think it was Spock's point of view, 3rd person, and there was a lengthy peice on how Spock viewed McCoy as xenophobic (needle in a haystack, I know), and how that would potentially put them at risk on diplomatic missions. Spock talked to Kirk about it, for that reason only and not because he was taking offense to the slurs, and I remember that Kirk's parting line was something along the lines of, "If you've been offended, I'm sorry," to paraphrase really roughly. If it helps, I'm sure it was reboot!continuity.
Thanks so much!

Date: 2011-02-06 07:08 pm (UTC)I am usually all over fics that deal with cultural differences or social issues but at the same time I wouldn't like to read about some beloved characters portrayed as evil.
So I am trying to gauge whether this would be a fic I would like or not.
So how are the other characters beside Kirk and Spock portrayed in it?

Date: 2011-02-06 10:17 pm (UTC)The fic has a lot of Uhura in it as it's from Spock’s point of view, who honestly isn't my favorite character, but I truly like her in this one. I think it deals with all of the characters very well and it shows the slow development of the relationship between Spock and Jim really well. It is long, 260ish chapters, although some are very short and some much longer. I would suggest reading the warnings if you have triggers.
Overall I would have no trouble recommending this story , I am currently rereading it myself, which was why I was pretty sure that was the story being looked for.
