Kirk/McCoy Academy Fic

I know that I read this story early on in my current ST obsession, but I can't remember who wrote it.  It was a slow building Kirk/McCoy, with each of them seeing other people throughout the story.  They are at the academy, and McCoy commiserates with another female doctor about unrequited love while discussing the Kinsey scale of sexuality.  Anyone know what I'm talking about here?
