[NOW FOUND] looking for a specific story in which kirk learned vulcan as a child

I seem to recall that this fic was set in the reboot universe but borrowing elements from TOS. Kirk is stuck on a ship as a kid after something bad happened and learns Vulcan from a Vulcan tutor. Later, this comes up at the academy - I think he's studying advanced Vulcan or something? My memory is, sadly, super vague. Might have been gen or K/S.
