K/S - Kirk is left to die in a building by some other cadets while helping with search and rescue

This has been driving me krazy! And I know it's probably a famous fic.

I think it's a longer story/series. I can only remember the one arch...

Spock in at home when an earthquake (?) or something does major damage to the Academy and San Fran. Everything's chaotic, Bones is at a hospital, and Jim's out rescuing survivors from buildings, etc with a team.

Jim's team hates him and leaves him trapped in a building where there's gas and he's prolly going to die.

Kirk has a vid or comm link to Spock and it's like his last minutes...

I think there was a happy ending..

I think it is Any Road Will Take You There (http://gone-ashore.livejournal.com/21579.html), it doesn't have Spock, but other than that it is spot on. The part where Jim is trapped in a room with the leaking gas while on a comm link with Bones is in the second to last and last chapters.

There is a Kirk/McCoy one that sounds a lot like the one you described. It's by gone_ashore called Any Road Will Take You There (http://gone-ashore.livejournal.com/tag/anyroadwilltakeyouthere). The part that you described happens in Chapter 29.
