Long K/s fic search and recs

All I remember is Kirk and Spock were living on Vulcan for some reason or another, and they had news of a planned attack on  (new?) Vulcan. They had to go before the High Counsel to present it, because Vulcan's are traditionally pacifists, and would not respond until after the attack had killed a lot of people. I think T'pau was there, and she said something to the effect that Surak would see "no logic is waiting for the rabid le-matya to attack". They ended up forming shield, or at least preparing for the said attack. Sorry on the lack of helpful info

Also, any K/s recs where Kirk and Spock retire (early I mean, not when they're older) from starfleet and live and work on Vulcan would be amazing. I love Jim in starfleet, but I really want to see him working on Vulcan. Reboot and/or TOS is greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry my comment's gonna be somewhat unhelpful, but I just couldn't stop myself from sharing a few links with a fellow TOS lover :)

There's a fic very similar to the one you describe, but the action is set on a planet even more pacifist then Vulcans. Our boys are trying to prevent them from getting destroyed and also to get them to agree to such help. It's really well-written. Has some mild Spock/OFC, but basically it's K/S pre-slash.

Re:retirement, there's a beautiful fic Happy Endings (http://ksarchive.com/viewstory.php?sid=109&warning=1) by Penknife. An AU of the author's angsty series of fics, this one is... well, a happy ending :) "AU: Spock survives Khan's attack on the Enterprise, and things finally change for Kirk and Spock."
They're not young when they retire from Starfleet here, but still, it's not because of age, as it's an AU of ST:VI as well, where they were quite young enough to continue with the service :)

Thanks for the recs. They sound amazing, and I probably should go back and edit my post to make sure I was clear. When i said 'young when they retire' I only meant it in the sense that they go to vulcan INSTEAD of starfleet, not retire-in-old-age-after, kind of thing :)
