startrekficfinderI"m looking for two stories, set during their time at the Academy, where McCoy does not start out as Kirk's physician. I read each of them ages ago, but can't remember much about them other than this issue. And I really want to re-read these! Drat my useless lack of bookmarking things.
(1) Kirk's physician is elderly, and Kirk has messed with his old records or buried them, or the older doctor simply hasn't been paying attention. McCoy is perplexed that Kirk would choose someone like this doctor to treat him, and then through whatever circumstance ends up needing to deal with Kirk one day, and finds out that Kirk chose his doctor because he wasn't going to pay attention to things like medical history. And then Kirk must confess his sordid and traumatic past to Bones, etc.
(2) Kirk avoids going to the doctor, and breaks a bone someone, and McCoy forces him to go. However, Kirk's treating physician hates Kirk for some reason related to George, and essentially uses his power to treat Kirk to torture him (indirectly, by not allowing him painkillers while treating the broken bone, for example). McCoy finds out, extracts Kirk from his doctor-patient situation, and makes sure the other doctor pays for his actions, and then the rest of the story occurs.
Anyone remember either of these from my very limited description? Anyone? Please? Bueller?
