K/S fic, Jim angsting over crew safety - FOUND

I recently read a reboot story where Jim would collect interesting rocks from the planets they'd visit and, when he'd have to send a crew member on an Away mission, he'd privately assign one of the rocks to them and carry them around with him until the crew returned (safely or not). If someone died, he'd put the rock in a special place and never use it again. It's not the plot of the story or anything, just an amazing character detail I recall.

I probably have the damn thing bookmarked, but I can't remember which fic it is! Thanks for your help.
