Lost a Fic, must be saturday...

Hi everyone!
So I have lost a fic. Here are the details: i'm not sure who the pairing was, but it was probably spock/kirk. And I think old spock was Kirk's mentor, and when he died he left Kirk stuff at his funeral. But there was a stipulation that he had to finish his doctorate(?)first?
I know that's a pretty vague description but it is all I can recall!
Hope it's familiar to someone!

I believe it was jim and a vulcan who was the founder of the language in question...some journals or something...and he left a video to be shown where it then comes out about jim...jim wore a pin as he was a survior of the kelvin....tiniest survivor....jim and bones are together i think.....

Isn't this the one where the vulcan (not Spock) takes Kirk to a rose garden festival in, I want to say portland, but I'm not 100%. This is while Kirk is recovering from Tarsus. Not sure about Jim/Bones, I don't normally read that.

Then, after the funeral, kirk takes bones, spock and uhura to the places his mentor had taken him, but they weren't the same.
