startrekficfinderUpdate - An helpful anonymous poster directed me to Post-Nero Traumatic Stress Disorder by Pamdizzle, which is the exact story I was trying to find.
I am trying to locate a Spock-centric fic I read a while ago. I have gone through all of my book marks and even scrolled through the hundreds of saved fics on my Kindle over the last few days to find it and still the title and story have eluded me.
The fic is part of the Reboot Universe and the main plot revolves around Spock as the victim of escalating hate crimes aboard the Enterprise. I know the story takes place just after the first movie and was probably written before Into Darkness came out.
There are two scenes I remember vividly. The first is toward the beginning of the fic; Spock is working in the lab and someone throws a rock which causes him to get cut by some glass and the rock breaks a console in his lab. I think the rock may have been a sample collected on a planet at the opening of the story. The second scene is later in the fic and Spock has been electrocuted by a trap that his aggressor set in the hallway; I believe it may have occurred just outside of sickbay.
I know that the person behind the attacks is a crew member that should not have passed his psychology evaluations but because his parents had been killed and they had been good friends with an admiral the crew member was passed on that admiral's word. I also remember that The crew member fixated his attack on Spock because of biased news reports just after the Nero incident that painted Vulcans as brutish monsters who use pon farr as an excuse to attack those around them, and this report made the crew member afraid of Vulcans. I think Spock (or possibly Kirk) might receive some hate mail on his PADD but is unable to trace who sent it. I am also almost positive that at first Spock does not report the hate crimes but eventually Kirk gets a clue and assigns security to Spock. I am also fairly sure that over the course of this story the relationship between Spock and Kirk moves beyond that of acquaintances to that of intended lovers.
