Tarsus Academy fic

This is a fic I read years ago, not long after the first reboot movie came out. It's set during the academy years. Jim is asked to do an assignment on Tarsus which he refuses to do. Another survivor comes to the class as a speaker. All I remember is McCoy find out, the teacher doesn't make Jim do the assignment (or maybe Pike steps in?) It's short too. Thanks in advance.

Edit: And just like that, I found it. It's called Antithesis by Annenburg if anyone is interested.
