Hi. I was wondering if any could recommend some smart Kirk stories, set in reboot verse, ones where he is underestimated and shocks everyone with his smarts.

Also looking for stories centring around Kirk and his mother, I’ve read the ones you can find through the character search function fanfiction.net which only came to about five stories.

Gen or Kirk/Spock, no other pairing please. Thank you for anything you can rec.

√π233/hy7 (http://waldorph.livejournal.com/108982.html) is an AU Academy fic where Kirk never joined the Academy but does move to San Francisco, meets Spock, and is forced into the Academy. It's pretty great. It's actually a series of one-shots from different points of view. Very interesting character study pieces, if you're into that.
