I've read a WIP a while back, in which a young Spock poses as Romulan to hide in plain side&joins up with a crew of smugglers/rebels, formerly commanded by Pike, now by Kirk after Pike got badly wounded in their last fight. 
Don't remember which fractions were involved, but Vulcan served as a neutral zone. Spock bought himself a place on Kirk's crew by helping them steal the Enterprise (Vulcan's new flagship) after they'd lost their own ship.

Anyone know this fic? I'd really like to find out if it ever got finished!^^
