Hello,

I can't find a fic I read some time ago. It took place after the reboot film, at least partly on Earth, but I'm not sure if it was before the 5 years mission or during it. All I remember is that the Admiralty made a change to the female uniform (shorter), and of course Uhura and a lot of others didn't like it. What surprised her was that Kirk was ready to help them, going so far as to tell the admirals that he couldn't expect aliens to respect his crew if their commanding officers didn't do it. Help, please?

Ahh, I know the fic you're looking for but I just can't place it. Do you remember anything else? I remember that there was a petition and I think Spock was there when Kirk spoke to the Admiralty.

I can't remember anything else, but it seems you're on the right track with the petition thing. I think I read it on the Ksarchive because that's where I found most of the fics I've read, but I'm not sure, and there are lots of fics there. I did a search using Uhura as character, but didn't get the answer I was looking for.
