I'm trying to find a fic that I could have sworn I bookmarked, but I can't seen to locate it. Nor can I remember the title or author. It's driving me crazy!!!
It starts out as Kirk/Spock. Jim is drugged at a bar during shore leave and taken to a dingy hotel room where he is raped by a group of people. I think he passed Uhura on the way, but was too out of it to even really call out for help. Any way, he wakes up the next morning to discover bruises and marks on his body. Just then Spock walks in and because Jim's only explanation is that he must have had too much to drink (he's still in shock and hasn't processed the memories yet), Spock infers that Jim was incapable of a monogamous relationship and logically terminates their relationship. Pretty much the entire Enterprise finds out about their break up and takes Spock's side (despite neither Jim nor Spock giving any explanation or details), because of course everyone and their grandmother knows that Jim is basically a man whore. Bones finds out and comes storming up to the bridge to demand answers from Spock. Bones insists that Jim has never and would never cheat, especially no on Spock with whom he has been in love for ages. Jim goes to Bones, remembers what happens, and both decide to send in their resignations. Scotty and Gaila are the only other two on board who support Jim and also decide to leave with him. Spock becomes captain of the Enterprise and three years later, upon completion of the five year mission, return to San Francisco to find out that Jim was integral in taking down a ring of people who are basically rapists-for-hire and then given the captaincy of the newest ship in the fleet, which his far outshining the enterprise. At some point during all of this, Jim and Bones got married. Spock runs into them, sees how happy Jim is and realizes what he lost.
